Marama 2022

 Each day in Maths we have a different Math starter that we explore.  Our focus this term is on Mental Computation so we are exploring all the different ways to use and manipulate numbers. Today we had a maths starter about a frog that was trapped in a hole and had to get out.  Josephine, Robert and Luca each shared their strategy and thinking to explain how they got their frogs out of the hole.

 We have been learning more about how our bodies like to exercise and stay healthy by exploring new and different ways to stay fit at the gym. We had a chance to use 3 weight machines at the gym with Adele. It was heaps of fun and some of them were really hard to use. Adele talked with us about how our bodies are still growing and how it is important to use machines correctly and safely.

  We have been exploring fractions by applying our knowledge to a practical learning situation in this situation called "Bottle Ups". It wasn't as easy as we first thought :)  But after we talked together and shared how we could convert our millilitres into fractions, we were away!

 Each Thursday Marama travel to Motueka to take part in MOTEC sessions.   The children get to explore Food Technology, Technology with wood, Computer Technology and Sewing - soft materials technology.

 A small group of girls are exploring varied ways to keep fit and healthy with Adele at The Moutere Hills Community Centre twice a week. The girls are really enjoying the sessions in the fitness centre where they explore multiple cardio machines. Firm favourites are the Treadmills, The Rowing Machine and the stair master.

 Our school Nursery is up and running with our new watering system that kept our seedlings hydrated over the Summer. We all got stuck in with some transplanting and weeding to get the nursery ready for the next stage of our learning. Next stop: Seed collecting!

 The judges have arrived and the cooking competition is on! First round is Breakfast. What fabulous treats do they have in store for us this year?
